A customer service rep told Barker that laptops’ USB 3 ports “may not work” due to Windows Updates, hence the apparent need to disable them. It’s not, however, clear that the rep was suitably authorized or informed to make this statement, and even if true, it’s not clear why Samsung didn’t elect to fix the problem (by issuing the relevant drivers itself) rather than papering over the cracks.</p> </blockquote> <p>That’s a lame excuse.</p> <p>Via <a href="http://arstechnica.com/security/2015/06/samsung-promises-to-stop-disabling-windows-update/">Ars Technica</a></p> Condom That Changes Color 2015-06-24T13:53:00+08:00 https://codeandlatte.com/2015/06/condom-that-changes-color <blockquote> <p>The so-called “S.T.EYE” condom is a conceptual design that changes color when it comes into contact with an STI such as chlamydia or syphilis.</p> </blockquote> <p>Wow, this is just brilliant!</p> <p>Via <a href="http://edition.cnn.com/2015/06/24/health/condoms-change-color/index.html">CNN</a></p> Oculus Rift 2015-06-12T16:11:00+08:00 https://codeandlatte.com/2015/06/oculus-rift <blockquote> <p>The Rift is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Shouldn’t be this way, did some googling and seems like I am <a href="https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/poor-performance-on-freebsd">not</a> <a href="https://raymii.org/s/articles/Digital_Ocean_Sucks._Use_Digital_Ocean.html">the</a> <a href="http://mpc.lists.freebsd.bugs.narkive.com/u5VROWpJ/bug-196816-poor-disk-io-performance-on-digital-ocean-cloud-hosting">only</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/jogbert/status/555480838151106560">one</a>. Got tired and switched back to <a href="http://centos.org">CentOS</a>, wasted way too much time playing with <a href="http://www.freebsd.org">FreeBSD</a>.</p> <p>Anyhow, my old blogs gone, and I think its good, I wanted to redo from fresh anyway. So here I am, a fresh new <a href="http://wordpress.org">WordPress</a> blog, and a <a href="http://ghost.org">Ghost</a> blog for my personal site, <a href="https://jimtkm.com">jimtkm.com</a>.</p> <p>Welcome to <em>Code &amp; Latte</em>, I will update often.</p> <p><strong>Updates (10 June, 2015):</strong> Both sites are using SSL now.</p>
